FREE CROCHET PATTERN - Butterfly Pie Square

I created this granny square for my Patreon a few years ago, and i thought it was time to bring it to the website!
This would perfect for a SUPER chunky blanket, or even several put together as a potholder.
Either way, I love how this one came out and I feel like I need to do a red version so it looks like a cherry pie!

20g of Colour A in Aran
20g of Colour B in Aran
Abbreiviations UK TERMS
CH - Chain
CHSP - Chain space
ST/STS - stitch / stitches
TR - Treble Crochet
FPTR - Front Post Treble Crochet
FPDTR - Front Post Double Treble Crochet
SS - Slipstitch
Little Puff Stitch
It is almost as if you are going to make a UK treble and then you keep looping and grabbing!
To create one puff st - yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch/space. Yarn over again and pull back through so you have 3 loops on your hook. *Yarn over, insert your hook back into the same stitch/space. Yarn over again and pull back through so you have 5 loops on your hook. Repeat from * 2 more times.
Yarn over and pull through ALL the loops on your hook. Ch 1 to finish and close your little Puff stitch.
Using Yarn A, ch5, join with ss to form a ring.
Round 1: ch3 (counts as 1tr), 2tr into the centre of the ring, ch3, *3tr into the centre of the ring, ch 3. Repeat from * 2 times. Ss into the 3rd stitch of the initial ch3. Fasten off
Round 2: Join into a corner chsp, *puff, ch2 and puff into the same chsp. Ch1. Repeat from * into each chsp. SS into top of first puff. Fasten off
Round 3: Join into a corner chsp, ch 1 *dc, ch 3, dc into the same chsp. Ch1. FPTR around the next 3tr, ch1. Repeat from * into the next 3 chsps. SS to initial ch1. Fasten off
Round 4: Join into a corner chsp around Round 2 & 3's corners. *puff, ch2, and puff into the same chsp. 3htr around Round 2's ch1. Repeat from * into the next 3 chsps. SS into the top of the first puff. Fasten off
Round 5: Join into a corner chsp. Ch3 (counts as 1tr), 2tr into the corner chsp, *ch2, 3tr into the same corner chsp. Tr into the ch1 in Round 3 above the Round 2 puff. FPDTR around each FPTR from Round 3. Tr into the ch1 in Round 3 above the Round 2 puff. 3tr into the next corner chsp.
Repeat from * into each chsp, omitting the final 3tr as you reach the first chsp again. SS into the top of the initial ch3. Fasten off.
Round 6: Join into a corner chsp. Ch1, dc into the ch space, *ch2, 2dc into the same chsp. Dc into next 11sts. 2dc into the next chsp. Repeat from * around the square, omitting the final 2dc as you SS into the top of your inital ch1. Fasten off.
