FREE CROCHET PATTERN - Paper Chains Necklace Crochet Pattern
Posted by R Lismer on
A cheeky little make-along FREE pattern for you!
I created one of these for an interview very early on in my Crochet Design career where I interviewed to be a freelance designer for Hobbycraft (and I designed two things for them!). And this has been a pattern in my catalogue for a long time but I have finally decided to hang it up and give it to you for free!
Materials and Tools
4mm hook
Large eyed needle
20g of yarn in Aran/Chunky
Terminology
CH - Chain
TR - Treble crochet stitch
DTR - Double Treble Crochet Stitch
ST - stitch
SS - slipstitch
I tend to make my necklaces from the centre outwards, but you may prefer to make a smaller
ring first and work across the rings before doing the chain sections. I will lay out the pattern
how I work it, but feel free to rejig to your own preference.
The necklace order is Small, Medium, Medium, Big, Medium, Medium, Small.
Big Central Ring (Make 1)
Ch32, turn and put your hook into the 5th ch from the hook. DTR in each ch on the
return.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Ensuring the crochet strip isn’t twisted, sew into a loop
using the tail end of the yarn and your needle. Going forward, joining the rings
together, you will need to thread your crochet strip though the previous ring before
sewing together.
Medium Ring (Make 4)
Ch28, turn and put your hook into the 4th ch from the hook. TR in each ch on the
return.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Ensuring the crochet strip isn’t twisted, sew into a loop
using the tail end of the yarn and your needle.
Small Ring (Make 2)
Ch20, turn and put your hook into the 4th ch from the hook. TR in each ch on the
return.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Ensuring the crochet strip isn’t twisted, sew into a loop using
the tail end of the yarn and your needle.
Chains (Make 2)
Ch70, thread the chain through the smallest ring and then place your hook into the 8th chain, ensuring the chain is not twisted. SS into the next 62 chs. Fasten and weave in your ends. Repeat for the other side. Knot the chains together at your preferred length and wear!
