FREE CROCHET PATTERN - Crochet Cardigan Cuffs

Posted by R Lismer on

Ok.... I know you have been waiting SO PATIENTLY for the cuffs pattern....so here it is.

I initally tried to work it out by Fit...but as soon as I remembered that a lot of you added rounds to your squares that went out the window... SO... in lieu of that I worked out how I would make cuffs for squares with more rounds. Huzzah!

Ready?

The picture above is a 4 round Square. Have I still got you?

You need 4 of these 4 round squares to create the sleeve like I did for my Fit A cardi-can (rather than 3 squares around a sleeve for Fit B+).

4 Round Square x 4 - Cuff Pattern

Joining into a chsp.

Ch2 in chsp, htr in next chsp, ch1. *Htr in next 2 chsps, ch1* repeat 7 times. Htr in next 2 chsps, join into top of initial ch2.

Ch2, htr in each st (29 stitches), ss to join. I prefer the look of this wrong side out so that is how I do it. You do you.

Htr around (29) 4 times. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

5 Round Square x 3 - Cuff Pattern

Joining into a chsp.

Ch2 in chsp, htr in next chsp, ch2. *Htr in next 2 chsps, ch1 * repeat 3 times. Htr in next 2 chsps, ch2,*Htr in next 2 chsps, ch1 * repeat 2 times

Join into top of initial ch2.

Ch2, htr in each st (29 stitches), ss to join.

Htr around (29) 4 times. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

6 Round Square x3 - Cuff Pattern

Joining into a chsp.

Ch2 in chsp, htr in next 2 chsp, ch1. * Htr in next 3 chsps, ch1, * repeat once. Htr in next 3 chsps, ch2, *Htr in next 3 chsps, ch1 * repeat twice.

Join into top of initial ch2.

Ch2, htr in each st (29 stitches), ss to join.

Htr around (29) 4 times. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

7 round square x 3 - Cuff Pattern

Joining into a chsp.

Ch2 in chsp, htr in next 3 chsp, ch1. *Htr in next 4 chsps, ch1 * repeat 4 times.

Join into top of initial ch2.

Ch2, htr in each st (29 stitches), ss to join.

Htr around (29) 4 times. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

8 round square x 3 - Cuff Pattern

Joining into a chsp.

Ch2 in chsp, htr in next 8 chsp, ch1. *Htr in next 9 chsps, ch1 * repeat once.

Join into top of initial ch2.

Ch2, htr in each st (29 stitches), ss to join.

Htr around (29) 4 times. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

Ok....NOTES.

You may need more than 29 sts to go around your wrist at your tension/hook size.. now if you need to add 2 or 3 sts, you also need to add them into the chs inbetween your half trebles in your cuff pattern. Spread them out or it will look weird.

You may need less. Take a ch or two out.

You can also CHANGE YOUR TENSION for this part too...loosen off if you need a little more wiggle room.

Whatever you do...WRITE IT DOWN because you will need to do the second cuff and we have all been there at 11pm trying to count what the hell we did on cuff one so we can replicate it for cuff two. Don't be me Dear Reader...learn from my mistakes.

Hope you love adding cuffs to your cardi-cans...let me know how it goes!

  • Hi Laurie! It might take a little maths your end to get it down to the 29 sts around that you need for the cuff surround. I can definetly have a look at it for you and ad it back here when I have time!

  • Hi, how would I do this for 3 4-round squares? Or is there an easy trick for adjusting one of these patterns?
    Thanks :)
